It is useful to those who are new to energy healing, as well as those who have hired healers before. The author has worked with numerous healers of different modalities over several years with varying results. How do you avoid the con artists hidden among legitimate healers? The world of healers is one in which an impostor could easily hide. Discerning the difference can be challenging. Considering that many of us struggle with difficult issues life inevitably brings, we can find ourselves vulnerable to “healers” whose intentions are not altruistic, but rather of selfish motives. Promises of fantastical healing may end in great disappointment, or even injury to our health. Seeking relief from our afflictions should not create yet more problems, but should at least provide comfort and certainly do no harm. This book was written with the benefit of hindsight after the author had unfortunate an experience with an unscrupulous healer. Numerous suggestions guide the reader in navigating the world of healers in an effort to find appropriate care while avoiding harm. The author covers warning signs of an unethical healer, as well as specific practices within healing traditions which, if misused, can be harmful to people with certain health issues. How to cope after a bad experience is also discussed.Excerpt from the Introduction:For those of us who wrestle with the challenges life tends to bring, as well as those who struggle with difficult health issues, I have come to realize how vulnerable we are especially when we lack effective treatments and sometimes even acceptance by the allopathic medical community. Many of us want desperately to become whole again, especially when we are financially impacted by our condition. It is easy, then, to fall prey to fantastical stories of remarkable healings. A “healer” who is more interested in financial gain than positive results for the client will charge excessively high prices, insist on an inflexible commitment, and possibly even a deposit. These individuals are more likely to lighten our wallets while doing little to effect positive change in our health. Often times the change will be negative since they are not truly working with the divine healing source but instead operating out of their own ego. Some energy healers can be helpful while others fall short, despite even the best intentions. Then there are the scammers. They tell a plausible story, going through the motions to gain the client’s confidence, while their true desire is to be paid for scant knowledge and effort. The “healer” who tells a story of nearly dying when he accidentally ate a poisonous mushroom while in a faraway country may be telling the truth, or may have simply concocted a fantastical story of a dramatic awakening. The world of healers is one in which a scam artist could easily hide. Discerning the difference can be challenging. Take your time. Consider your intuition as well as the information you gather before choosing a healer.
